KilimoVuna project

The project relies on a network of low-frequency (LoRa) connected devices installed in rural areas of Togo. Kwami Mensah designed this system to break down the barriers of illiteracy and the digital divide. Farmers, who often have basic phones without internet access, call a toll-free number or activate the speaker on the community device. They ask their questions verbally in their native language.

KilimoVuna’s AI analyzes the request (leaf disease, fertilizer needs, rain forecasts) and provides a clear, localized voice response in less than 10 seconds. The system also includes a pooling feature to organize local micro-collections during harvests.
